Eagles Win, 7-4, Versus Wasilla
|
The Akutan Island Eagles faced a tough opponent in Wasilla pitcher Juan Maldonado, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Oceans Ballpark by a final score of 7-4 in 17 innings. Maldonado went 5.1 innings and allowed 3 runs. Akutan Island reliever José Moreno was the winner. His record is now 4-2. The losing pitcher was Shan-bo Chong. The Eagles improved their record to 32-43 with the win over Wasilla.
The result might have been different, had it not been for 21-year old third baseman Anthony Nash. Nash had a 2-run double in the top of the 17th inning to put the Eagles ahead, 5-3. For the game, Nash had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"A lot to like, just frustrated that we came up short," said Wasilla manager Juan Rodríguez.
