Salmon Clip Winds in Tight Contest, 3-2
|
The Taku Winds got a sterling performance from pitcher Sekien Kitamura, but the Ketchikan Salmon still prevailed, 3-2. Kitamura threw 8.0 innings of 1-hit ball. Ketchikan reliever Don Scott snagged the win, upping his record to 5-1. Héctor Ramírez shouldered the loss. The Salmon sit in first place in the Alaskan League Fisher with a record of 46-26.
Ketchikan used the timely hitting of Ron Arellano to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Salmon on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Well, it's always frustrating to lose," said Taku manager Josh Christensen.
