Sledge Dogs Sneak Past Wallbangers, 3-2
|
The Homer Wallbangers could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Chris Lithgow into a win. Instead, the Wasilla Sledge Dogs prevailed, 3-2. Lithgow threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. The winner in relief was Edgardo Ortíz. He is now 2-3. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. Wasilla now owns a record of 37-36.
Arnie Lewis came through with a big-time hit for Wasilla. The catcher smacked a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Lewis. "And not try to do too much."
