Traders Cut Down Gunslingers, 6-4
|
Dawson City left fielder Luke Shanks had a good game, even if his team did not. The Gunslingers dropped a 6-4 decision to Kenai at Metros Ballpark. Shanks was 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs. Robby Patterson, who is tied for 9th in the AL in wins with 6, was the winner. He's now 6-3. The loser was Sam Peña. Juan Villarreal earned the save for Kenai, his 14th.
The Traders got a big at-bat from right fielder Jimmy Rhodes. For the game, Rhodes was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 20th home run of the season gave Kenai a 2-1 lead.
"Banging out wins is what it's all about," said Rhodes.
The first-place Traders now have a record of 37-32.
