Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Kenai Traders and Taku Winds.
The Kenai Traders knocked off the Taku Winds, 5-3, in Alaskan League action at Sullivan Brothers Stadium. Kenai pitcher and Kameda, Japan, native Kikaku Nakagawa had an outstanding performance. Logan Larsen picked up the save for Kenai, his 13th of the year.
The Traders got a big at-bat from first baseman Tetsui Shimizu. For the game, Shimizu went 1-3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. In the top of the fifth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Kenai a 2-1 lead.
"Kikaku pounded the strike zone and made good pitches when he needed to," said Kenai manager Sammy Brown.
Kenai bumps their record to 38-30 with the win.
