Capitals Earn Win with Late Rally
|
The Barrow Arctic Blast got a superb performance from pitcher Marco Elbaz, but the Sitka Capitals still won the game, 6-5. Elbaz came in in relief and pitched to 18 batters. The last-place Capitals have a record of 33-35.
Sitka used a clutch at-bat from César Meléndez to capture the win. The catcher hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the second inning to put the Capitals ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"That's a solid team effort right there," said Meléndez. "Everyone's feeling positive after that win."
