Traders Best Prospectors in Pitching Duel
|
In a low-scoring game between Kenai and Skagway, pitcher Manny Méndez was excellent. The Kenai right-hander helped his team knock off the Prospectors, 2-1. Logan Larsen earned the save, his 12th. With the victory, the Traders record stands at 35-29.
The Traders got a big at-bat from left fielder Leroy Hicks. For the game, Hicks went 1 for 3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 23rd home run of the season gave Kenai a 2-1 lead.
"Not enough offensively in a winnable game," said losing manager José Fierro.
