The Kenai Traders stymied the Skagway Prospectors, 6-2, at Metros Ballpark. Yoritoki Kobayashi had a good day at the plate. He was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 for Kenai. The Traders are now 34-29, while the Prospectors fall to 28-35.
Making an impact for the home team was Ken Sims. In the bottom of the first, the 20-year old shortstop had a run-scoring walk. That made the score 3-1, Traders.
Said losing manager José Fierro: "It's very easy to sit in an ivory tower and critique the pitching, but the bottom line is we need to score runs."
