Grunts Lose as Bowheads Stage Late Rally

Fairbanks wasted a solid 8-inning effort from starting pitcher Dave Durán, losing to Kivalina, 2-1, at The Sanctuary. The first-place Bowheads now have a record of 36-23.
Ben de Bruin cracked a home run off Dave Durán in the bottom of the eighth. His solo blast put the Bowheads on top, 2-1. In all, de Bruin had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"I like our mental toughness," said Kivalina manager Jesús Mireles.
