The Barrow Arctic Blast got a superb performance from pitcher Shane Posey, but the Akutan Island Eagles still won the game, 4-3. Posey threw 7.1 innings of 6-hit ball. The winner in relief was Richard Hartung. He is now 1-1. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. Akutan Island, now 21-37, holds down 4th place in the Alaskan League Klondike.
Akutan Island got a clutch hit from Tokuhei Tanaka. The catcher socked a 3-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was game-ender.
"We need to get rid of the bad mojo," said Tanaka. "Maybe this win will help."
