Sledge Dogs Win at Angoon, 3-2
|
The Wasilla Sledge Dogs picked up a win at Pixies Ballpark, downing the Angoon Avalanche, 3-2. On the mound for Wasilla was right-hander Alfredo Flores, who played a pivotal role in the win. Wayne Rudis closed it out for Wasilla, earning his 2nd save. Wasilla is in 4th place in the Alaskan League Oiler with a record of 29-29.
Wasilla used a clutch at-bat from Gregg Pearson to capture the win. The right fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Sledge Dogs ahead, 3-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Pearson told the Wasilla Chronicle. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."
