Loss to Gunslingers Extends Cold Bay Losing Streak
|
Another game, another loss for the struggling Cold Bay Eleven.
The Dawson City Gunslingers picked up a win at Thunderclouds Ballpark, knocking off the Cold Bay Eleven, 4-2. Starting pitcher Takeji Yamasaki played a key role in the triumph. Yamasaki picked up the win for Dawson City, going 6.2 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 2-1. Katsuhiko Mikami was called on to finish, recording his 4th save.
Dawson City won the game in part because of Andre Akerboom. The catcher ripped a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Gunslingers ahead, 4-0. For the game, Akerboom had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"I wish I had a genie in a bottle," said losing manager John Robertson. "First thing I'd ask for is a win."
Dawson City, at 35-19, occupies first place in the Alaskan League Fisher.
