Wet weather did not postpone the Homer-Akutan Island ballgame.

The Homer Wallbangers defeated the Akutan Island Eagles, 12-5, at Enfield Grounds. Homer was led by 21-year old left fielder Alonso Bernal, who went 3-4 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. Leo Brisbourne picked up the win with 6.1 innings of work. He allowed 4 runs on 6 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 4. On the season, he is now 3-5.

Homer used a clutch at-bat from Klaus Overwater to capture the win. The left fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Wallbangers ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Overwater.
