Calzones of Laredo Come Up Short at Scottish, 5-4
|
Gilberto Fernández had a good game, but he could not keep the San Antonio Calzones of Laredo from falling, 5-4, to the Scottish Claymores at The Castle. The San Antonio first baseman went 3-4 with 2 home runs and a triple, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice in the loss. Shinkichi Hasegawa converted his 1st save in 1 tries. The losing streak for San Antonio has now reached 5 games.
Rob Woodard, who finished 5th in the IL in home runs with 33 last year, came through for Scottish with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the third. The first baseman went 2 for 4 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 1 run and collected 3 runs batted in.
"No one player deserves all the credit when you win," Woodard said. "And the same is true when you lose."
