The Anchorage Mighty Moose got a stellar effort from pitcher Pepe Sánchez, helping Anchorage score a win over the visiting Sitka Capitals, 6-2. The winning pitcher was Sánchez, now 3-4. He tossed 9 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 4. With the win, Anchorage pushed its record to 22-16.

Luis Castillo had a big grand slam home run for the Mighty Moose in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Anchorage leading 2-1 and the bases loaded, he got a curveball from 19-year old right-handed pitcher Pablo Hernández and swatted a home run to right. It was his 4th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Mighty Moose ahead, 6-1.
