The home crowd had a good time watching the Kenai Traders and Whitehorse Explorers get after it.

Matsu Fujita, who leads the AL with a 12.9 K/9 rate, propelled his team to victory over the Kenai Traders. The final score was 5-2, Whitehorse. The winner was Fujita. He threw 7.2 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Manny Méndez.

Francisco Vázquez had a big 2-run home run for the Explorers in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Whitehorse leading 3-1 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from 22-year old left-handed pitcher Francis Roofe and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Explorers on top, 5-1.

"Matsu was better than good. He was sensational," said Whitehorse manager Larry Martin.

At 12-17, the Explorers are currently 5th in the Alaskan League Fisher.
