Salmon Deal Winds Painful Loss
Despite a great performance by Taku designated hitter Mario Puente, the Ketchikan Salmon defeated the Winds by the score of 5-4 at Spectres Ballpark. Puente was 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times. Okitsugu Kouda snagged the win in relief. He goes to 2-1 on the season. Gary Luker suffered the loss. The Salmon saw their win-loss record go to 20-9. At the same time, the Winds fell to 14-15.

Ketchikan got a game-changing hit from Jeff Gaines. The first baseman blasted a solo home run in the bottom of the 11th inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a winner.

"What an ending!" said a jubilant Gaines.
