Explorers Victorious at Akutan Island, 6-3

The Whitehorse Explorers locked up a win at Enfield Grounds, knocking off the Akutan Island Eagles, 6-3. On the mound for Whitehorse was right-hander Alfonso Santiago. He played a major role in the triumph. Devin Odom recorded the save for Whitehorse, his 2nd of the season. At 10-16, the Explorers find themselves in 5th place in the Alaskan League Fisher.
Whitehorse used a clutch at-bat from Juan Nájera to capture the win. The center fielder hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the second inning to put the Explorers ahead, 5-2. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Alfonso executed his pitches at a high level," said Whitehorse manager Larry Martin.
