The Fairbanks Grunts got a magnificent performance from pitcher Masato Sato, who muffled the Kenai offense en route to a tight, 3-1 Grunts win at Metros Ballpark. The winning pitcher was Sato, now 3-1. He tossed 7 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 7. The Traders, 7-9, continue their poor start to the 2042 campaign.
Takeo Kiyomizu, who is tied for 9th in the AL in extra base hits with 7, had a direct impact on the outcome. Kiyomizu contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth inning to put Fairbanks up, 2-1.
Kiyomizu said his team "played with determination."
