Hyakujuu Shinkansen Announce Cooper as New GM
As the sun rose and the birds chirped, a new dawn was on the horizon for the Hyakujuu Shinkansen. Today they announced that Charlie Cooper would take the reigns of the organization and right the ship. After finishing with the worst record in the LRS last year, owner Shinji Sogo Jr decided that something had to change.
The young and ambitious Cooper took the microphone and answered the media’s questions. “Coop,” as he is referred to as, plans on a complete rebuild. He’ll look to build up a weak farm system and focus on player development. Cooper has also pointed out that the organization has lacked quality pitching for years and that he will build his team around power pitching and contact bats.
With a budget in the lower third of the league, Cooper will emphasize cheap, cost-effective players. At this point, though, it’s going to be a rebuild and the team will not be wining anything for the next few years. Cooper asked the fans for their patience and trust throughout the process.
The decision to bring Cooper in as GM has brought much speculation and fanfare. Some say that he is too young and that the team should have went with an experienced elder to take the team. Others like the decision, citing the fact that it can’t get much worse and that bringing in one of baseball’s young minds is a gamble worth taking.
Only time will tell if the Shinkansen’s gamble will pay off.
