Big Bang! 3 HR for Delft's Yamamoto Monday, April 18th , 2039 Delft Engineers third baseman Yoritoki Yamamoto sensed he was going to have a good day at the plate, but he still might have underestimated it a little. Prior to the start of today's contest with the San Juan College Oceans, Yamamoto told teammates he was sure he would hit a home run. He did -- three times. "During batting practice I really had my swing down pat," he recalled. "I felt some thunder in the lumber." The big day from Yamamoto pushed the Engineers past the Oceans, 8-5. To go along with the homers, he collected 5 RBIs and scored 3 runs. "I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Yamamoto told reporters after the game. Yoritoki Yamamoto hit a two-run home run off Orlando Ruíz in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Orlando Ruíz in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Jaime Gómez in the 5th, flied out in the 7th and flied out in the 9th. Yamamoto on the season is hitting .227 with 12 home runs. His stats include 24 RBIs and 18 runs scored. |
