Day of Decision: Morales Retires Wednesday, December 7th , 2039 Xavier Morales said he will miss "leading the boys into battle" after this season. At 37 years old, the team leader of the Merida Adelantados has announced he will retire at season's end. "I've always tried to be a guy that leads by example and I'd like to think I've been a good leader in my career," he said. "There's a lot of things I'm going to miss about the sport, but I think most of all is the camaraderie with the guys." In his 304-game career, Morales's won-lost record is 49 wins and 45 losses with a 3.83 ERA and 1029 strikeouts in 890.2 innings. He has been credited with 16 saves. |
