Ryan Strokes 5 Hits Monday, August 29th , 2039 The Monterey Sea Lions stopped the Omaha Insurers by a score of 13-4 at Monterey Grounds today, with the lion's share of the credit going to first baseman Leonard Ryan. The 22-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits. "Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Ryan said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard." Ryan did just that in his 5 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Insurers. "Not much that I can say," offered Omaha manager Tetsu Konishi. "He just hammered the heck out of us." Leonard Ryan singled in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Víctor Castro in the 3rd, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit a two-run home run off Dennis Young in the 8th. For the season Ryan has hit .265 with 10 home runs and 52 RBIs. He has played in 129 games and scored 61 times. View Boxscore |
