Orlando Lara Strokes 3 Home Runs Sunday, July 17th , 2039 Beaufort Loggerdoggers center fielder Orlando Lara put on a dazzling display of power today at Loggerdoggers Ballpark against the Omaha Insurers. In the 8-7 Loggerdoggers victory Lara penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts. "He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Omaha manager Tetsu Konishi said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well." Along with his three home runs, the 34-year-old had 3 hits in 4 at-bats, 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Lara said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today." Orlando Lara struck out in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Víctor Castro in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Víctor Castro in the 5th, was hit by a pitch in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Yoshimi Kohara in the 9th. In his season totals, Lara has 12 home runs, .190 BA, .309 OBP, 33 RBIs and 28 runs scored. He has played in 66 games. |
