There was never a dull moment in this extra-length game between the University of Tokyo Imperials and the Rikkyo University Bishops.
The University of Tokyo Imperials eked out a 1-0 win versus the Rikkyo University Bishops at Field of the Angels. Nobody did more than pitcher Iemochi Iida. He was terrific. Kanezane Morimoto got credit for the win, improving to 2-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings.
University of Tokyo used the timely hitting of Nobuhito Shimizu to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Imperials on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Iida told the University of Tokyo Citizen.
The third-place Imperials now have a win-loss record of 23-21.
