New Jersey picked up a win at The Castle, toppling the Scottish Claymores, 3-0. Pitcher Chris Brown was one of the reasons the Hitmen triumphed. The winning pitcher was Brown, now 11-6. He tossed 7 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 4. Pat Smith earned save number 3 this season.
New Jersey relied on the bat of Joe Riley to get the win. The second baseman ripped a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Hitmen ahead, 2-0. For the game, Riley had 1 double and 1 home run in 3 at-bats.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Riley told the New Jersey Daily News.
With the win, New Jersey raised its record to 79-53.
