Ciudad Acuna rode a fine outing from starter José Vega to victory over the Queretaro Desperados at Desperados Ballpark. The final score was 4-1. Vega went 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4. His record improves to 3-0. Armando Luna got credit for the save for Ciudad Acuna. It was his 4th of the year.
Ramón Vela was a prime factor in the win for the Mariachis. In the top of the third with two out, the 32-year old right fielder hit a 2-run double. He went 1-4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI.
"I thought we played a nice game," Vela told the Ciudad Acuna Chronicle. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
The Mariachis now have a record of 12-18 with the win over Queretaro.
