Shmoes Suffer 4-2 Loss to Rapidos Blancos
|
The San Luis Rio Colorado Rapidos Blancos had to overcome a fine effort from Mexicali pitcher Luis Martínez to grab a narrow 4-2 win at Ballpark of San Luis Río Colorado. Martínez went 7.2 innings and allowed 4 runs. José Medina earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 4 innings. He upped his record to 1-1. Cliff Douglas earned the save, his 17th.
The Rapidos Blancos got a big at-bat from right fielder Eugene Hamilton. For the game, Hamilton went 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with the bases loaded, he stroked a grand slam home run. His 8th home run of the season gave San Luis Rio Colorado a 4-0 lead.
"They played a better game than we did," said Mexicali skipper Hidehira Ine.
Their 30-14 record puts the Rapidos Blancos third in the Baja Cali League Mexican.
