Dragons Best Kaisers in Pitching Duel
UAB Dragons starter Tony Romero worked his magic, as he helped his team defeat the St. John's Kaisers, 2-0. UAB reliever Brett Nelson picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. Mike Patton shouldered the loss. The save was credited to Roberto Gómez, his 15th.

UAB took a 1-0 lead on Russ Latham's 1st triple of the season. The run-scoring triple, which Latham hit in the bottom of the seventh, left St. John's pitcher Mike Patton visibly frustrated.

"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Latham told the UAB News.
