The Michigan State Persians scored a tight 2-1 win versus the UAB Dragons at Alabama-Birmingham Grounds. Michigan State pitcher Todd Wise held his own in the contest. Wise picked up the win for Michigan State, going 7 innings. He gave up 1 run on 8 hits. He now sports a record of 4-2. Mark Bowman closed it out for his 3rd save.

Michigan State used the clutch hitting of Cordell Yarborough to snag the win. The pinch hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Persians ahead, 2-1. It was his lone hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a crucial one.
