The Marshall McConaugheys topped the UAB Dragons, 7-1, in United States Collegiate Baseball Association action at Alabama-Birmingham Grounds. The game was highlighted by the performance of Marshall right fielder Skip Paul. Neil Taylor, the winner, improved to 4-1. He held the Dragons to no runs on 4 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 1. Marshall now sits at 28-18, while UAB falls to 18-28.

With Marshall leading 4-0 in the top of the eighth, Paul came up to bat against UAB pitcher Brett Nelson. Paul hit a fastball to left-center for a 3-run home run. His 15th home run of the season put the McConaugheys on top, 7-0.

Paul said his team "played with focus."
