Archers Beat Rice, 3-2
|
The Iowa Archers and Rice Puddings played an exciting game.
Rice got a valiant performance from pitcher Hamilton Wynn, but it wasn't enough to beat the Iowa Archers. Iowa won the game, 3-2. Wynn threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. The win was credited to Yoshiki Abe in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Josh Brown took the loss. Clark Jones earned the save for Iowa, his 5th.
Iowa used the clutch hitting of Duncan Milligan to capture the win. The second baseman drilled a bases-clearing double in the top of the eighth inning to give the Archers the lead, 3-2. For the game, Milligan had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Iowa manager Pete Hodges said.
The loss makes Rice 21-15.
