Dragons Make It 6 Straight Losses
The Iowa Archers did just enough to sneak past the UAB Dragons, 1-0, at Archers Ballpark. Iowa pitcher Rich Arnold, in particular, had a standout performance. Arnold, now 1-1, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 3, walking 0, and allowing no runs. Getting the save was Clark Jones, his 2nd.

The Archers got an important contribution from shortstop Francisco Vázquez, who in the bottom of the fifth hit a fastball into right for a solo home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Archers ahead, 1-0.

"There are times you get yourself out and there are times you come through," Vázquez said. "That's how it goes."

The last-place Dragons have lost 6 straight games.
