Starting pitcher Andrés Martínez was a major factor in the 6-2 Utrecht Scholars triumph over the Nassau Vulcans. Utrecht now owns a record of 71-28.
The result might have been different for Utrecht, had it not been for Dong-hee Yi, the 23-year old shortstop . Yi stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the tenth inning to put Utrecht up, 5-2. For the game, he had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Our team showed some spunk," said Yi.
