The Rapid City Rushmores topped the Bismarck Battleships by the score of 2-1, with the biggest share of the credit going to catcher Robert Gerosa. Gerosa went 2-2 with 2 singles and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI for the Rushmores on the day. Takashi Nakai, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 7th save. The win puts Rapid City at 19-28.
The game was all tied up in the bottom of the eighth, until Gerosa delivered big-time for Rapid City, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Min-yul Pak. The game-changing hit put the Rushmores on top, 2-1.
"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Gerosa told the Rapid City Daily. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
