The Gatineau Balloonists had to overcome a fine effort from Kumamoto pitcher John Leckenby to grab a narrow 3-2 win at Ballonists Ballpark. Leckenby went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs. The win gives Gatineau a record of 9-6.

Had Toshinobu Nakao not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Nakao hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Balloonists.

"Our guys are never satisfied," said Gatineau manager Jason Campbell.
