Narragansett Seagulls starter Shigenobu Taguchi turned in a top-notch performance against the Youngstown Thunder at Narragansett Stadium. The result was a win for the Seagulls, 3-2. Taguchi went the distance for Narragansett. He gave up 2 runs on 5 hits. The Seagulls sport a record of 87-51.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Narragansett right fielder José Aguilera, facing Francisco Romo, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Seagulls the 3-2 win.

"We were in it," said Youngstown manager Al Goudie. "We just didn't score enough runs."
