Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Hampton Airborne got the win.

Monterey wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Mayer Wiegand, falling to the Hampton Airborne, 4-3. Wiegand threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. The winner in relief was Tim Clemons. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in 1.2 innings. He now owns a record of 4-4. Luis Cruz recorded the save for Hampton, his 4th of the season.

Had Ángel Oliveros not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Oliveros hit a 2-run single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Airborne.

"There are times you get yourself out and there are times you come through," Oliveros said. "That's how it goes."

Hampton is now 49-79, Monterey 45-83.
