The Liverpool Beatles weathered a fine game by Narragansett third baseman Júlio Ayala to upend the Seagulls, 5-3, at Narragansett Stadium. Ayala hit 2 home runs. Jason Romero earned save number 6 this season. The third-place Beatles raised their record to 64-60.

In the top of the first, Rick Thomas ambushed a first pitch fastball from Shigenobu Taguchi and hit a 2-run home run. It gave Liverpool a quick 2-0 lead.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Thomas. "And not try to do too much."
