Diamonds Pick Up 1-0 Road Win Over Inverness
|
Inverness got a big-time effort from pitcher Travis Eckerman, but it wasn't enough to keep the Delaware Diamonds from winning the game, 1-0. Eckerman threw 7.0 innings of 1-hit ball for the losing team. Delaware starter Yi-lin Lu was credited with the win after throwing 88 pitches over 6.2 innings. His record now stands at 3-0. The Diamonds move to 16-22 with the win, while the Highlanders drop to 18-20.
Brian Watkins drove in one run for Delaware. The 28-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the fourth. With no one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Travis Eckerman. It was his 6th RBI of the season.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Watkins said.
