Ghosts Beat Bears, 5-2

The Niihama-shi Ghosts topped the Bakersfield Bears, 5-2, in Sovereign League action at Oikake Maze. The standout performance belonged to Niihama-shi pitcher and Chicago, Illinois, native Dave López. Earl Lucas got credit for the save for Niihama-shi. It was his 9th of the year. Niihama-shi goes to 14-9.
John MacVurich put Niihama-shi in front, 3-1, when he took Héctor Cruz downtown. His solo home run came with no one out in the bottom of the fourth. It was his 4th home run of the season.
López said afterward that "winning is what it's all about."
