Semifinals Game 1 Victory for Encarnación and Zapopan
The Zapopan Torrenas started the Semifinals in style today, downing the visiting Nezahualcoyotl Coyotes at Torrenas Ballpark by a score of 8-2 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Torrenas right-hander Ricardo Encarnación threw 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball.

Pedro León dealt the Coyotes a blow in the bottom of the fifth. Batting with the bases loaded and Zapopan leading 3-2, León hit a 3-1 fastball for a 2-run single.

"We didn't put up much resistance," said losing manager Albert De La Cruz.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Torrenas Ballpark in Zapopan.
