Thrilling Victory Pushes Virus Win Streak to 5
|
El Cajon and Takaoka duked it out and the Virus came out victorious.
The El Cajon Virus topped the Takaoka Shiko, 4-2, in Baja Cali League action at The Shrine. The standout performance belonged to El Cajon pitcher and Meerbusch, Germany, native Harald Lamper. Shuji Yamamoto snagged the win in relief. In 1.2 innings, the right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit. He's now 3-1 on the season.
El Cajon needed the clutch hitting of Cody Kinnevan to notch the win. The third baseman hammered a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Virus on top, 3-2. For the game, Kinnevan had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said El Cajon manager Steve Hott.
El Cajon is now riding a 5-game win streak.
