Scarth Rips 2 Home Runs in 8-1 Battlecats Triumph
|
The Canuck HS Battlecats thumped the Eton Rifles, 8-1, at Seaside Park. Lewis Scarth was a big reason his team got the win. Scarth went 3 for 4 with 2 home runs and a double. He scored 3 times and drove in 5. Sean Cooper, the winner, improved to 2-1. He held the Rifles to 1 run on 5 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 1. The first-place Battlecats are now 16-13, the Rifles 17-12.
Scarth contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Canuck HS in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, Scarth took a slider from Emílio Arreola and stroked the home run to left. His 9th home run of the season allowed the Battlecats to leap in front, 2-1.
"The name of the game is scoring runs," Scarth said. "We did a good job of that today."
