Rifles Cruise to Round 2 with Sweep

The Eton Rifles proved to be too much to handle for the Dublin Shamrocks in the Round 1, and a sweep was the end result.

Eton punched its ticket to the Round 2 on the strength of a 8-2 win in the deciding game, which wrapped up the series 4-0.

Eton center fielder Shane Marsland, named series MVP, was instrumental in the sweep, as he mashed Dublin pitching to the tune of a .389 average, with a .389 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 4 runs.

The Eton Rifles don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Hoorn Schooners - Guantanamo HS Diamond Cats series. Guantanamo HS leads the series 3 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.

Water Buffalo Heading to Round 2

The Manila HS Water Buffalo bandwagon is filling up fast, as the team has moved one step closer to winning a Round 4 championship.

Manila HS downed the Osaka Toin HS Eijisu Masters 8-5 tonight at Manila Field, to take the Round 1 4-1.

"It seems much more real now and we're really starting to realize we've got a great shot at this thing," said Yoshimochi Murayama, who was named series MVP. "When we play our best we're as good as anybody in the International High School Athletic Association."

For the series, Murayama had 10 hits for .526, with a .571 on-base percentage. He had 0 home runs, 4 RBI and scored 2 runs.

The Manila HS Water Buffalo don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Tennoji HS Sensei - Taitung HS Hermits series. Taitung HS leads the series 3 games to 2. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
