Balloonists Dump Medicine Hat, 9-7, to Win 5th in a Row
|
With first baseman Alfonso Gonzáles leading the charge, the Gatineau Balloonists defeated the Medicine Hat Drillers, 9-7, at Ballonists Ballpark. Gonzáles went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 times. Pedro Ramírez, the winning pitcher, improved to 3-10. He pitched 5.2 innings, giving up 7 hits and 5 runs, while striking out 2 and walking 4. Todd Webber, credited with the save, is now 1 for 1 in save opportunities.
Ira Santegoeds dealt the Drillers a blow in the bottom of the second. Batting with the bases loaded and Gatineau leading 2-1, Santegoeds hit a first pitch fastball for a 2-run single.
"It was a nice win for our side today," said Balloonists manager Jason Campbell. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."
The 5th-place Balloonists have won 5 in a row.
