Lions Top Hitmen, 8-3
|
Two good teams met in a late-season showdown.
Getting offensive support from Forrest Aldridge, the Amsterdam Lions topped the New Jersey Hitmen, 8-3. Aldridge was 2-5 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Lions. The third-place Lions improved to 85-65.
With Amsterdam leading 4-1 in the top of the seventh, Aldridge hit a fastball from Robin Castano for a grand slam home run. It was his 15th home run of the season and put the Lions ahead, 8-1.
"It's not about individual awards," Aldridge told a Amsterdam Times reporter after the game. "It's about winning championships. That's what we play for."
