Hitmen Bridle Harpoon, 3-1
|
New Jersey took on Hartford in front of a lively crowd.
The Hartford Harpoon got a superb performance from pitcher Ronaldo Hernández, but the New Jersey Hitmen still won the game, 3-1. Hernández threw 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball. Chris Pate, who went 5.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 1 run on 5 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 4. His record now stands at 8-5. Scott Courtier collected his 20th save.
New Jersey used a well-timed hit by Yoichibei Miura to capture the win. The shortstop socked a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Hitmen ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Hartford skipper Fernando Muñóz, "and it cost us."
The Hitmen sit in second place in the Imperial League Seaboard with a record of 46-39.
