Reid Bashes 5 Base Hits
5 hits in a game has always been a big milestone in baseball -- 5 hits in a game gets a player's name in the record book, win or lose. Ian Reid got his name recorded today, but the Henderson Fighting Scotts picked up the win at Rodan Stadium, topping the Kyoto Rodan, 8-7.

"He bushwhacked us," said winning manager Gary Young. "We were lucky to come out ahead."

Reid spoke to reporters in the clubhouse following the game, saying his nerves only set in once he was on the cusp of the milestone.

"I got too much adrenaline going when I realized that this could be a once-in-a-lifetime day," the third baseman said. "I think the coaches could tell I was going to be ready to swing at anything close. That's why my third base coach told me to calm down and wait for a good pitch. That got me back on track."

Ian Reid singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Rich MacKersey in the 7th, walked in the 9th, singled in the 11th, walked in the 13th and walked in the 16th.

This season Reid is swinging the bat at a .238 pace. He has hit 10 home runs and scored 38 times, while driving in 51. His on-base percentage is .303 and he has played in 114 games.
