Akira Sting Codgers, 8-7
|
The inspired effort of Palm Springs catcher Nolan McMahon was not enough to prevent a loss, 8-7, to the Neo-Tokyo Akira. McMahon went 2-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Sergio Sánchez got credit for the win, improving to 3-7. He allowed 7 runs on 10 hits in 6.2 innings. The save was credited to Jack Lynch, his 15th.
The Akira got a big at-bat from catcher Marvin Hansen. For the game, Hansen was 1-5 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run double. His 8th double of the season gave Neo-Tokyo a 2-0 lead.
"We got the victory," said Hansen. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."
The last-place Akira lifted their record to 26-41.
